This world map illustrates the nations that have sent competitors to international Amateur Radio Direction Finding competitions. For the purposes of this map, international competitions include World Championships, IARU Region I, II, and III Championships, and the pre-1980 European Championships.
Many nations of the former Soviet Union and the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia are color-coded by when they first participated in ARDF competitions as a sovereign nation. It is probable that athletes from those nations participated in competitions representing the Soviet Union or the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia prior to the 1990s.
This map was created by Kenneth E. Harker WM5R of Austin, Texas, USA, in January, 2006.
