== Lietuvos vyrų šachmatų čempionatas ==

22-asis Lietuvos vyrų šachmatų čempionatas vyko [[Vilnius|Vilniuje]], [[1955]]  m. [[kovo 27]] - – [[balandžio 22]]<ref>{{cite web|url= http://www.webcitation.org/6ZK8R7TZ4|title= 1955 m. Lietuvos šachmatų čempionatas |language = |accessdate=2015 m. birželio style=16 d}}</ref>

Čempionate dalyvavo 16 dalyvių: dauguma jų buvo vilniečiai  – 10, kauniečių dalyvavo 4, po 1 žaidėją iš Klaipėdos bei [[Plungė|Plungės]]. Varžybose dalyvavo ir praėjusių metų prizininkai ir kiti pernai gerai pasirodę šachmatininkai: M. Ostrauskas, L. Abramavičius. J. Krimeris. Tarp debiutantų buvo ir klaipėdietis Reinhardas Barstatis (9 v.) vėliau tapęs prizininku ir plungiškis Algimantas Česnauskas (12 v.) būsimas čempionas ir prizininkas. Dėl čempiono vardo, kaip ir 1953  m., susikovė R. Cholmovas ir J. Čiukajevas. Pasibaigus turnyrui abu buvo surinkę po 11, 5 taško. Tačiau birželio mėn surengtą tarp jų mačą vėl įtikinamai laimėjo R. Cholmovas, šeštą kartą tapęs Lietuvos šachmatų čempionu. V. Mikėnas, atsilikęs tašku iškovojo bronzos medalį. Po jo sekė J. Krimeris ir M. Ostrauskas (abu po 9,5 tšk.). Nesėkmingai susiklostė varžybos praėjusių metų Lietuvos čempionui I. Vistaneckiui  – aštuntoji vieta (8 tšk.).

Dėl čempiono išaiškinimo 1955  m. birželio 15-25 d. [[Vilnius|Vilniuje]] buvo surengtas mačas tarp Ratmiro Cholmovo ir Jegoro Čiukajevo, kurį 5:1 laimėjo R. Cholmovas.<ref> Bertašius A. Lietuvos sporto žinynas. Vilnius: Lietuvos sporto informacijos centras, 2000. T.3. P. 126.</ref>

== Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempionatas ==

8-asis Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempionatas vyko [[Vilnius|Vilniuje]], [[1955]]  m. [[spalio 10]]  – [[lapkričio 1]] d.<ref> Bertašius A. Lietuvos sporto žinynas. Vilnius: Lietuvos sporto informacijos centras, 2000. T.3. P. 126.</ref>

Jame dalyvavo 15 šachmatininkių: 7 vilnietės, 5 kaunietės ir po viena žaidėja iš Šiaulių ir Molėtų. Čempionate dalyvavo ir praėjusių metų Lietuvos moterų čempionato prizinkės. Nežaidė du kart Lietuvos čempionė, bei daugkartinė prizininkė - – [[Elena Lukauskienė|E. Lukauskienė]]. Praėjusių metų čempionė [[marija Lichtenfeld|M. Lichtenfeld]], pasiekusi aukštą rezultatą (13,5 tšk. iš 14) apgynė savo titulą ir antrą kartą tapo Lietuvos moterų šachmatų čempione. [[Marija Kartanaitė]], kaip ir pernai, iškovojo sidabro medalį (12 tšk.). Na, o trečią vietą užėmė [[1953 m. Lietuvos šachmatų čempionatas| 1953  m. moterų čempionate]] debiutavusi, tapusi vilniete, [[Vilhelmina Kaušilaitė]] (10,5 tšk.). Keturis kartus Lietuvos čempionė, praėjusių metų bronzos medalininkė kaunietė J. Čukajeva turėjo dalintis ketvirtąją vietą su kita kauniete I. Šimkute (abi po 9 tšk.), kuri pernai buvo 5-a. Čempionate debiutavo ir keleta būsimų čempionių bei prizininkių: [[Ilana Rozentalienė|I. Epšteinaitė]] (6 v. 7,5 tšk.) ir A. Stepanovičiūtė (8 v. 7 tšk.).
