Tradicinė kinų medicina susilaukė įvairios kritikos: ji menkai pagrįsta moksliniais tyrimais. <ref name=Matuk2006 />, jos ginčytinas veiksmingumas, <ref name = TorT/> kai kurie čios medicinos vaistai turi nuodingų toksinų,<ref name=NEC/><ref name=ERTCM/><ref name=CTCMMP/> jei būdingas mokslinių tyrimų nepaisymas,<ref name=BWA/><ref name=FRRTCM/><ref name = TorT/> jos vaistai pasižymi galimu šalutinių reiškinių pavojumi ir prisideda prie nykstančiū gyvūnų rūšių nykimo, (kurdama vaistus iš įvairių gyvūnų kūno dalių ji tokiu būdu prisideda prie juodosios rinkos paklausos). <ref name="Harding"/><ref name="online"/><ref name="2008 report from TRAFFIC"/><ref name=FTCMRH/><ref name=RH/><ref name="Sfgate.com"/><ref name=guiban/><ref name="Pbs.org"/><ref name=Bensky_Clavey_Stoger/><ref name="Brian K.
